Farming
Blane Saunders evens out cranberries as they fall off an elevator during the the October 11, 2013 harvest at Cran Mac farm in Ilwaco, on the Washington coast. October and November are the typical harvest months for cranberries in our state. Washington is one of the top producers of the cranberry crop. The berries grow on a small bush and the bogs where they grow are flooded and agitated with a machine, which caused the berries to float to the top for harvest. Owners Ardell and Malcolm McPhall have worked the farm since 1982. (Joshua Trujillo, seattlepi.com)
